Authorities identify 82-year-old man killed in Gorham mobile home fire

Gary D. Marshall was cooking at the kitchen stove in his Gorham home when the fire broke out Wednesday night, authorities said.

Buildings at Province Lake Golf in York County were destroyed, but no injuries were reported.

David Jackson has been chief for two years and will retire at the end of March.

The fire chief says it was fortunate that residents had not yet gone to bed.

Nobody was injured in the blaze, the fire chief says; the building and its contents appear to be a total loss.

The superintendent describes the fire, which resulted in no damage but led to the school’s evacuation, as an accident.

The fire on Sherwood Street started in the oven, but they closed the kitchen door to keep it contained in that room, a fire official says.
