Man killed in Rockport motel fire identified

Investigators believe a cigarette ignited a mattress.

Fire swept through a room at Schooner Bay Motor Inn early Monday morning, according to investigators.

Two were donated by Backyard Farms and one by Bob Shipley of Bob’s Cash Fuel Oil.

The fire at Eldredge Lumber and Hardware on Presumpscot Street was reported around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

No one is injured when the blaze sweeps through the top floor of a 3-story building on Munjoy Hill.

Phillip DiLuca ran into burning mobile home in Clinton while Todd Lyford reached into a burning car in Dover-Foxcroft to pull a woman to safety.

Brian Goodwin was taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation and a slight heart attack.
