The National Republican Congressional Committee raised Poliquin to “contender” status this week.

All three campaigns have denied any role, and Michaud’s campaign is using it to raise money.

Before delivering the signatures, the independent candidate for governor renews his call for the other candidates to debate soon and often.

The independent candidate for governor dominated communities like Yarmouth in 2010, and he’ll need to do it again to succeed in November.

Trailing in the polls with six months left until the election, he tells potential supporters not to worry now about splitting the anti-LePage vote.

As governor, the independent candidate says he would modernize the Department of Environmental Proctection and promote renewable energy.

Michaud draws from all over the state while LePage and Cutler tout strong pockets of support.

But more than $200,000 of Cutler’s funds come from his own checkbook, and LePage has so far spent less money than his opponents.

Each candidate had the support of 40 percent of those polled, with Cutler having only 14 percent.
