Former Trump aides testify that several Republican members of Congress sought pardons from the president that would shield them from criminal prosecution, as the House Jan. 6 committee continues its hearings.

Trump’s pressure on local election officials, described as potentially illegal, was fueled by the president’s false claims of voter fraud which, the panel says, led directly to the deadly insurrection at the Capitol.
