Controlled burn on Richmond Island leads to heavy smoke, ‘hundreds of calls’
The Maine Forest Service said a helicopter was called in to drop water and put out the fire after a wind shift blew a smoky haze across nearby towns, including South Portland, Scarborough and Westbrook.
