Portland forum will examine effects of climate change on Bayside

Rising sea levels are already affecting the low-lying area during storms and unusually high tides, officials say.

The planning effort focuses on connecting the Bayside Trail to the Fore River Parkway

The highest anticipated tides of the year are likely to create ‘nuisance flooding’ in low-lying areas.

The 4-acre property now used by the Public Works Department has high development potential, and a sale could alter the neighborhood’s future.

City Manager Jon Jennings tells a neighborhood group that the development in Bayside may be altered again, but he isn’t providing details.

The Bayside neighborhood is seeing a resurgence of the cheap, dangerous and technically legal substance.

The restaurant at the former Century Tire site on Marginal Way is part of plans to redevelop the section of Bayside.
