CAPE ELIZABETH — Superintendent of Schools Meredith Nadeau was not hired as the new superintendent of Weston Public Schools in Massachusetts.

Nadeau was one of three finalists for the position, but ultimately the job went to Dr. Thomas Campbell, director of human resources for the Needham, Massachusetts, public schools. The Weston School Committee announced the decision Thursday on the district website.

The third finalist was Dr. Jennifer Fischer-Mueller, deputy superintendent in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Nadeau toured the Weston district Jan. 15 and spent the day meeting parents, community members, students, and faculty. The day ended with an interview with the Weston School Committee.

Nadeau has been superintendent in Cape Elizabeth since July 2011. She was not available for comment following Weston’s announcement.
