Howard Johnson hotel to be run as shelter by state
The state is to fund a transitional housing shelter at the Howard Johnson hotel in South Portland operated by MaineHousing. The state will fund Catholic Charities to provide social services and reimburse general assistance costs up to $65,000, and pay $135,000 if needed to reimburse the city for ambulance costs and to hire a temporary health specialist.
