Kevin Thomas
Kevin Thomas does not always write about baseball. It just seems that way, starting with his early days covering spring training for the St. Petersburg Times, to his current role of bi-locating at both Hadlock Field and Fenway Park, reporting on the Portland Sea Dogs and Boston Red Sox. In the off-season, he still writes about baseball, while venturing to hockey rinks and basketball arenas, especially when it comes to the University of Maine and local colleges. Thomas has received awards for his work, but his greatest prize is home, which includes one patient wife, nine children and an aging chocolate Labrador.

Thunder 6, Sea Dogs 4: A lead, and then the bullpen
Again, the relievers provide little relief as the Sea Dogs drop to 14-34 while having the worst month in franchise history.
Sea Dogs can’t handle the Thunder
PORTLAND — Ryan Lavarnway hit his team-leading 11th home run and Tim Federowicz singled three times. But the Portland Sea Dogs still lost another game, dropping a 6-4 decision to the Trenton Thunder Monday afternoon, before 5,279 at Hadlock Field. Portland finished its nine-game home stand with a 2-7 record, and are now 14-34 overall. […]

On Baseball: It’s obvious he has the ability, but now he’s learning to trust it
PORTLAND – First inning. Runner in scoring position, with two outs. Will Middlebrooks stepped to the plate last Monday night in a situation in which he is supposed to deliver. Middlebrooks, 22, the third base prospect who signed for nearly a million-dollar bonus, is a touted five-tool player now suiting up for the Portland Sea […]
