Before that he worked in the Press Herald’s Brunswick Bureau where he spent several years covering news in several midcoast towns from Rockland and Wiscasset to Bath and Brunswick. He also covered Bath Iron Works, the Brunswick Naval Air Station, Bowdoin College, and the Maine Yankee Nuclear Power Plant during his years in Brunswick. One person dead in Old Orchard Beach crash
OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Old Orchard Beach police are investigating a single-car crash that killed one person tonight. Lt. Tim DeLuca said the crash took place on Temple Avenue around 7:15 p.m. One person was killed. DeLuca said the name of the victim won’t be released until the victim’s family can be notified.

The Maine-built sailing vessel Raw Faith, abandoned by its owner Tuesday after it began taking on water in heavy seas, sank this morning off Nantucket, Mass.
Coast Guard Petty Officer Connie Terrell said the 118-foot, three-masted ship went down at about 7:30 a.m. in approximately 6,000 feet of water.

Wreaths for the fallen
Portland was just one stop among many on the route south, but the city turned out in force to make sure the convoy carrying wreaths to lay on graves of fallen soldiers was a memorable one.
Hundreds of onlookers — estimated by the event organizer at about 2,000 people — lined Ocean Avenue and the entrance to Cheverus High School on Sunday night to welcome the Wreaths Across America truck convoy to the city.
As the convoy escorted by police cruisers arrived at Cheverus, it passed under an American flag held aloft by ladders extending upward from two Portland fire trucks.
