Fire Chief Ricky Plummer says the poorly plowed driveway at Centennial Place created ‘a huge, huge impediment.’

A new layer of snow covers the 2 feet or more that fell in Maine on Tuesday. Now, the question is whether two storms next week will go out to sea.

Roadways are slick and many communities announce parking bans as they continue to clear the old and new snow.

Some have to be rescued by ladder from upper-floor apartments, but only a few are injured. Cleanup has started, and residents may be able to return in days.

The blizzard that dumped 2 feet of snow on the region is followed by a flurry of activity as public works crews, car dealerships, rail operators and residents get in on the cleanup.
