PORTLAND — City voters on Tuesday returned incumbents Jill Duson and John Anton to at large seats on the City Council. Duson and Anton cruised to re-election with 13,157 and 12,114 votes respectively. Challenger Charles Bragdon received 9,440. Edward Suslovic defeated William Mitchell for the District 3 council seat 2,965 to 2,196.

Davis wins District 3 School Committee seat
PORTLAND — Portland voters elected Laurie Davis to the District 3 School Committee seat. Davis received 2,210 votes to Frank Gallagher’s 1,182. Those numbers were not final because there were still absentee ballots being counted.
Suslovic wins District 3 council seat
PORTLAND — Former Councilman Ed Suslovic defeated Will Mitchell for the District 3 City Council seat in Portland, 2,327 to 1,669. Suslovic is a former at-large councilor who was defeated in his reelection bid in 2008.

Driver was talking on cell phone in bridge crash, police say
SOUTH PORTLAND — A South Portland police officer has been released from the hospital after being injured after his cruiser was rear-ended on Casco Bay Bridge by what police say was a distracted driver.
The bridge was closed for four hours following the crash at 10:30 a.m. but is now open.
Rocco Navarro, 28, who has been on the force for four years, was sitting in his parked cruiser behind a disabled car in the passing lane of the bridge headed into Portland when his cruiser was hit from behind by a 2010 Chevrolet pickup. He had been contacting a tow truck.
