Recreational anglers will be prohibited from harvesting striped bass smaller than 28 and larger than 31 inches. The previous regulation had a 35-inch limit.

Mills signs bill to protect Maine’s loon population from painted lead fishing tackle
Under the new law, retailers will be prohibited from selling painted lead fishing jigs beginning Sept. 1, 2024, while users will be banned from casting such tackle into state waters beginning Sept. 1, 2026.
