Adam Birt covers fewer schools now than when he kicked off his time as a reporter and photographer in January 2013 - a development for which he is eternally grateful, since it yokes him with far less stress. He holds a BA from Colby in computer science, an MFA from USM in creative writing and a BA from USM in philosophy. He hasn't read Ulysses yet, though he does own two copies, nor has he read Infinite Jest (yet, but again: two copies). He has read Moby Dick, though. He says of it, "This book is good. The lessons in butchering marine life get wearisome, but the whale wins in epic fashion. You'd think more sports teams would choose 'The White Whales' as their mascot."

Boys Lacrosse: Patriots exit bracketing on loss to Hawks
GRAY—The last play doesn’t always matter. It did, though, when Gray-New Gloucester welcomed Maranacook/Winthrop/Spruce Mountain on Wednesday, Jun 12 – in fact, it mattered a lot. Down 5-4, the Patriots needed to score to force OT; in possession with time running low, they planned and pulled off a pretty Scott-Lynch-to-Travis-Caron-to-Kyle Mercier pass series. Mercier took […]
