Mark Lawrence of South Berwick won the Democratic primary in House District 2, which includes Eliot and parts of Kittery and South Berwick.

Lawrence received 54 percent of the vote, Kimberly Richards of Eliot had 38 percent and Gary Sinden of Eliot had 9 percent.

The Democrats hope to fill the seat held by Democrat Roberta “Bobbi” Beavers of Eliot, who didn’t seek re-election. In November, Lawrence will face the winner of the Republican primary, Jonathan Moynahan.
