Central Maine Power is reporting a power outage this morning affecting 6,700 customers in the Greater Brunswick area.

CMP spokeswoman Gail Rice said the power went out just after 9 a.m. in parts of Brunswick, Freeport, Sabbatus, Topsham, Bowdoin, Lisbon and Lewiston. Crews are on the way now, she said, and the cause of the outage is unknown.

CMP also had a power outage Monday, affecting a similar number of customers in Brunswick, Harpswell, Topsham and Freeport. Rice said a pole-top fire caused the outage at about 3:30 p.m. Some customers saw power on at 6:30, others at about 8:30 and the entire restoration project was completed just before midnight, Rice said.
