Dianne “DeeDee” Waugh
PORTLAND – Dianne “DeeDee” Waugh passed peacefully on Nov. 6, 2025, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Born on April 2, 1954, DeeDee was the first of five children born to Waldamar and Jacqueline (Bowen) Waugh.
DeeDee grew up in Portland, Westbrook and Casco. She graduated with the Class of 1972 from Lake Region High School in Naples, Maine where she was a cheerleader and carried that love of cheerleading throughout her life.
DeeDee pursued a nursing career dedicated to caring for others in their most vulnerable moments. She obtained her LPN from Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute (now Southern Maine Community College) in South Portland, and began her nursing career in pediatrics. Dianne continued her career as a home-health nurse working with the elderly. In her 50s, she went back to school and earned a degree in nutrition.
Dianne loved few things more than she loved The Beach Boys, Boston Red Sox and the Maine Mariners. Her memory for stats or facts about the Red Sox were challenged by few. She was a lifelong fan before the curse was broken in 2004. Attending baseball games and talking baseball was her happy place, through the very end. She also enjoyed crocheting, baking and loving on her cats. One of her grandest adventures was her solo trip in her 60s to visit the Beach Boys Landmark in Hawthorne, Calif. where she touched the Pacific Ocean for the first time.
DeeDee was predeceased by her beloved parents, Waldamar and Jacqueline Waugh. She is survived by her sister Elaine Heuiser, sister Lynn-Andrea Vago and husband George, sister Leslie Waugh Morton and husband Russell, brother Scot Waugh and his wife Patty. Dianne has three nieces, Corey Lynn Morton, goddaughter Victoria Waugh and Elisabeth Waugh, and one nephew, Lewis Morton. DeeDee has been a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church in Portland.
The family would like to thank the team of dedicated nurses and doctors at MaineMed who provided compassionate care to Dianne throughout the final chapter of her life. We are forever grateful.
A time of viewing and visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15 at the First Lutheran Church, 132 Auburn St. in Portland where a funeral service will begin at 11 a.m.
Arrangements are in the care of the Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Road in Casco where condolences and tributes may be shared at http://www.hallfuneralhome.net.
