I currently am the mayor of the great city of South Portland. I want to say that I hope the citizens of Maine vote “Yes” on Question 2 on Election Day.
I support our Second Amendment. However, the red flag law will protect our communities and pave the way for family and friends to help individuals who may be in a mental health crisis to be restricted from access to firearms.
I have had personal experiences that have made second-guessing a tragedy, and what could have been done to prevent it from happening.
I think this law would help the overall process and make our state a safer place.
