OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Donn S. Erickson, 90, of Milliken Street, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025, at his residence.
He was born March 28, 1935, in Wilmot, S.D., the son of Melvin and Frances Christianson Erickson.
At the age of 15, his family moved to Old Orchard Beach, where he later graduated from high school. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army from 1954 until he was honorably discharged in 1959.
After service to his country, he returned home and worked at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard then Pease Air Force Base until his retirement in 1990.
After retirement, Donn helped his wife run her family business, Steve’s Parking for 32 years in the summer. During the winter months, he traveled throughout the United States and Europe accompanied by his wife and family.
Donn took pride in his community. He was a member of the Old Orchard Beach Call Fire Department from 1965 to 1994 where he worked his way up in rank to Deputy Chief. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus from 1967 until his death, a member of the American Legion Post #57 and the DAV.
Donn was a kind and patient family man through and through who was always present. His happiest memories were moments shared with his family. Donn also enjoyed golfing at various golf courses throughout the local community, hunting and fishing with daughter and dog Missy, skiing, woodworking and gardening.
Donn is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Joan Erickson of Old Orchard Beach; a daughter, Joy Couturier and husband Richard of Old Orchard Beach, a son, Stephen Ryan and husband James Bishop of Saco; a granddaughter, Kristen Barth and husband Joseph of Old Orchard Beach; and one great-granddaughter, Evelyn Barth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Arlene LeBreton.
Visiting hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, at Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., Saco. A Catholic funeral mass will be held Thursday, Sept. 11, at 1 p.m. at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, 6 Saco Ave., Old Orchard Beach.
Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery with U.S. Army Military honors.
