Marion June (Blackwell)
Rollins
WILTON – Marion J. Rollins, 97, of Wilton, passed peacefully at the Pinnacle Nursing Home in Canton on Aug. 13, 2025.
Marion was born in Brunswick to Phyllis (Smith) and George Blackwell. Marion grew up on Harpswell Islands the third of 10 children where she attended school until she traveled to Brunswick where she attended and graduated high school. She worked at the 5 & Dime store at the little restaurant where she met Carlton E. Rollins Sr. of Brunswick. Our Dad would often tell us of Mom having her picture in the newspaper where she was Employee of the Month. Dad took the newspaper home to show his mother and told her he was going to marry her someday. Two months later they were married on July 3, 1948. She was extremely proud to tell people that her wedding ring had never been off her hand and was still there when she passed!
Mom and Dad raised six children, four boys and two girls on the Islands and moved to the Farmington area in 1975 with one daughter and two sons.
Mom was a very Devout Christian where she praised the Lord daily, looking toward him for guidance, love and peace. She was a very active member of The Church of Christ in Farmington Falls and previously Brunswick.
Mom was a big part of Dad’s construction company in the Brunswick and outlying areas by handling the book work, etc., in here earlier years. Mom filled in for her mother on Harpswell Islands as the town’s tax collector, etc., when Grammy Blackwell took time off. She took care of the book work for the church for several years. She donated her time for a while at a school for special needs children in Brunswick. She worked part time in the Farmington area at a few places including a thrift store in Downtown Farmington.
Marion is survived by her four sons, Carlton Jr., Bruce (Brinda), Lee Sr. (Diane), Brian (Shellaine); many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Bob and David Blackwell and a few sisters-in-law.
Mom was predeceased by her husband of 55 years at his passing in 2003; daughters Patricia Rollins, Marilyn Hamel, daughter-in-law, Nada Rollins; and seven siblings.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Sept. 13, at 11 a.m. at the Farmington Falls Church of Christ in Farmington.
