In his free time, he and his wife, Gloria, loved traveling to many states and Canada. They traveled to pretty much any place that did not require flying. Joe was always busy working on family homes, garages and many woodworking projects in his shop. There was one special project that he was very proud of and that was the restoration of a 1900 Portland Cutter horse drawn sleigh that he and his grandson, Eric Segars, worked on together.

Joe also enjoyed time spent on the golf course and was an avid bowler for 50 years. He also deeply enjoyed his time with his friends at McDonald’s in Topsham, where they would all meet for coffee.

In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his son, Joseph Thiboutot Jr.; and his brother, David Thiboutot.

Joe is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gloria (McCleary) Thiboutot; his children, John (Carrie) Thiboutot of Monmouth, and daughter, Jolene Thiboutot of Lisbon Falls, his stepchildren, Guy (Dawn) Segars of Brunswick, Jeff (Lori) Segars of Bowdoin, Keith (Linda) Segars of Bath, Theresa Bernier of Lisbon Falls, Cathy Lane of Florida, and Chris (Theresa) Lane of Lisbon Falls; his brother, Roland (Gail) Thiboutot of Brunswick and sister, Theresa (Andy) Paulhus of Brunswick; as well as many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews; and close friends.

Joe’s visitation will be held on Thursday Sept. 4 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick. His funeral service will be on Friday Sept. 5 at 11 a.m. at Stetson’s Funeral Home, with a burial to follow immediately after at Varney Cemetery, Pine Street, Brunswick. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.

Joe and family would like to send a special thank you to his sister-in-law, Charlotte McCleary, for her love, care and support.
