Major Esther L. Ramage

SACO – Major Esther L. Ramage was Promoted to Glory on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Seal Rock Healthcare Facility. She was born Oct. 10, 1932, in Quincy, Mass., the fifth child of Trygve and Signe Holm Larsen, who had immigrated from Horton, Norway.

She graduated from Quincy High School in Massachusetts and then attended Officer Training School for The Salvation Army in Bronx, NY.

Esther first worked for Territorial Headquarters. Esther and her husband then worked in Brockton Massachusetts Adult Rehabilitation Center and retired to Old Orchard Beach.

Major Esther was a member of the Old Orchard Beach Salvation Army Corps and the Home League.

She enjoyed traveling to Norway, handiwork, cooking, being a 20 year member of the YMCA and being a member of the Scandinavian String Band.

Esther was predeceased by her husband Major William Ramage, a brother William Larsen, three sisters Eleanor Davis, Karin Crocker and Ruth Puddy.

Survivors include a sister Betty Jacobson of Braintree, Mass.; and many nephews and nieces.

A funeral service will be held Friday August 29, 2025, at 11 a.m. at The Salvation Army Corps, 2 6th Street, Old Orchard Beach. Burial will be at Kensico Cemetery in Val Halla. New York 12:00 noon, Friday Sept. 5, 2025.
