One person was injured when a boat exploded on Sebago Lake on Tuesday and set a second boat on fire.
The incident began Tuesday evening in the Turtle Cove area when a boat exploded, injuring one person who was aboard, Naples assistant fire chief Jeff Lake said. A unoccupied boat that was tied to a nearby dock then caught fire, he said.
The injured person was taken to Bridgton Hospital for treatment. Lake said their injuries were believed to be non-life-threatening, but he did not know the person’s condition as of Wednesday.
The cause of the explosion is being investigated by the Maine Warden Service. The Maine Department of Environmental Protection was on the scene Wednesday morning to clean up fuel, Lake said.
Lake said the fire department usually responds to at least one boat fire each year.
