
Yarmouth’s upscale gastropub Owl & Elm announced this week that it will close after Saturday.
“We are so thankful for everyone who has come to spend time with us, for all of our staff who have worked so unfailingly hard and shared their magic, and everyone who has helped along the way,” stated the announcement on Facebook.
Owl & Elm was relaunched in 2023 after it was sold to the current owners Jenna Croteau and her husband Adam Croteau, Alli Bibaud and Christopher Doughty. Doughty and Adam Croteau had been chefs in the Owl & Elm kitchen under the previous owner, Caitlin Henningsen, who moved on to focus on her gluten-free bakery in Yarmouth, Little Bird.
The owners did not immediately respond to a request for comment about their decision to shutter the pub.
The revamped Owl & Elm increased its focus on fresh food made from scratch. Seasonally-rotating fare at the pub included fish and chips, duck fat confit and house-churned ice cream. Owl & Elm also had a variety of beers on tap and signature cocktails and mocktails.
A popular gathering location, the announcement received an outpouring of messages expressing sadness at the news and sharing memories of evenings at the pub.
“We have been so proud to be your village pub,” said the announcement.
