Retired Gorham Police Officer David Kearns died at 78 on June 5.
Kearns retired from the Gorham Police Department in 2011 after protecting the Gorham community for four decades. He began his law enforcement career in 1968 in his hometown Portland before joining the Gorhan force in 1971.
He served as a patrol officer, detective and even acting chief. He was widely known as a colorful figure in town, according to an American Journal retirement story in March 2011.
He’d been fired on, tangled with a biker gang and involved in epic cases.
