Linda Hamilton
YARMOUTH – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Linda Hamilton (Penniman) of Freeport. On May 24, 2025, she passed in Yarmouth, – at Coastal Manor. She lived most of her life in the Midcoast area, until the last few years, especially Bath.
Linda was born to Elinor Bowden and Gailen Hamilton.
Linda is survived by three children: Stephen Flewelling and his partner Amber of Maine, Kristina Flewelling and her partner David of New Hampshire, and Crystal Thibeault and her husband Johnny of Maine; her siblings: Cheryl Green and husband Rick, Bonnie Page and her husband Ralph, brother Mark Hamilton and his wife Caroline, brother Sonny (Gailen) Hamilton and his wife Karen, all of Maine. She leaves behind six grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, many nieces and nephews, and friends who were like family.
She was predeceased by her parents, a sister Jennifer L. Barker, two nephews Christopher and Robert Hamilton, and recently, great-nephew Joey.
Throughout her life, Linda held a variety of jobs, but her greatest role was caring for her family and loved ones. She had a generous heart, always ready to help others, and she strived to live each day to its fullest.
Linda found joy in the simple pleasures – camping under the stars, fishing, swimming, spending time with family, listening to her favorite tunes. Her sense of humor, bright energy, warmth, and love of life will live on in our hearts.
Linda’s strength and perseverance through life’s challenges – especially during the past few years battling cancer – remind us to smile, love, laugh, and live despite it all. Find joy in the visit of a friend, a warm cup of coffee, and all of the moments that we get to share in this life. In the words of one of her favorite songs, “I only wanted to see you laughing in the purple rain.” — Prince, find peace and let faith guide you.
A private graveside service will be held to honor her life, where she will be laid to rest in Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath.
