Jay Fowler
SCARBOROUGH – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jay Fowler, who left us far too soon on May 31, 2025, at the age of 15. A bright light in the lives of all who knew her, Jay resided in Scarborough and Biddeford, Maine, and brought joy, kindness, and the most beautiful smile wherever she went.
Jay was a selfless and happy soul who lived with open arms and an open heart. She was deeply involved in her school and community, participating in Unified Sports, the IT Help Desk, the Poetry Club, drawing and being into the arts, and beating her parents at chess. She was a proud supporter of the LGBT+ community and fought for inclusion among everyone. Her love for learning extended to languages and cultures from around the world and had traveled to several countries including the Philippines, Japan, France and Canada.
Jay cherished her time with family, and her bond with her siblings – Frankie Johnson, Chris and Audrey Bridgforth. She is deeply loved and missed by her parents: father Jesse Fowler and wife Shannon Bridgforth “Ate”, and mother Alexsa Briggs and husband Franklin Johnson “Papa”.
She also leaves behind her partner Jazmin Lester, “Nobyo”. Jay leaves behind a large, loving family and a wide circle of friends who were all touched by her compassion and light.
A public celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 4-7 p.m., at Hobbs Funeral Home, 671 US Route 1, Scarborough. All who knew and loved Jay are welcome to attend and honor her memory.
In lieu of flowers, we will be accepting donations in her honor to go to the Scarborough Unified
Sports program at https://www.gofundme.com/f/continue-jays-selfless-mission. If
you prefer flowers, please use Fleur de Lis Floral Design on Ocean Street in South Portland.
