STANDISH – Roger W. Hoyt, 88, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025. He was born on Jan. 7, 1937, in East Poultney, Vt., the son of Wilson R. and Florence Helen (Greene) Hoyt.

Roger graduated from Mechanicville High School, class of 1954. He went on to study at SUNY University of Southern Maine. Roger worked in the retail supermarket business for many years; he was Vice President Store Operations for Price Shopper. In 1971 he joined Hannaford as Vice President Retail Operations, moving on to President of Sampsons Supermarkets (owned by Hannaford) and retired from Hannaford in 1994 as Group Vice President.

On Oct. 20, 1957, he married Sharon Hutchinson, and together they raised their children, David, Cheryl and Jeffrey. They enjoyed traveling with their good friends Jack and Mary Lou Moran and would vacation together on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

In addition to his loving wife of 62 years, Roger was predeceased by his parents; and siblings.

He is survived by his sons David and Jeffrey Hoyt, his daughter, Cheryl Lee Hoyt; grandchildren Joseph, Nicholas, Amanda, Samantha, Zachary, and Andrea; as well as several great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend memorial services to be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday May 31, at Dolby Blais & Segee, 434 River Rd. in Windham.
