Dolores M. DiMillo
PORTLAND – Dolores M. DiMillo (Ciriello), a lifelong resident of Portland, passed away on April 24, 2025, after a period of declining health.
She was born in Portland on Aug. 2, 1939, a daughter of John and Jenny (Vasile) Ciriello. Dolores, affectionately known as “Dolly”, grew up on Munjoy Hill and attended Portland schools graduating from Portland High School (1957). A spirited cheerleader for the Bulldogs, she proudly supported the team and cheered on her future husband, John DiMillo. The two were married on July 29, 1961, and shared 61 wonderful years together between Portland and Dunedin, Fla., before John’s passing in 2022.
Dolly cherished her role as a stay-at-home mom, devoted to raising her three sons. She was always present, whether cooking meals, attending their sporting events, or making sure Sunday sauce followed Mass and was shared with family. Her deep Catholic faith was central to her life, and she dedicated many years to teaching CCD. She was a lifelong member of the Sacred Heart Sodality.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband John; and her sister, Pauline Wike.
She is survived by her sisters Roseanne Curneil and Annette Francis; her three sons, Michael of Falmouth (Maria); John of Tampa, Fla. (Tracy), and their children Victoria, Dominic, and Josephina; and Jim of Tampa, Fla., (Jenn), and their children Nicholas and Anthony.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Barron Center for their compassionate care and support over the past several years.
There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., on May 30, at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 72 Federal St., Portland. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland .
