Cynthia Leber Weidner
KENNEBUNKPORT – Cynthia Leber Weidner, 66, passed away at home after living with pancreatic cancer for two and a half years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Cindy was born in Summit, N.J. and graduated from Ridgewood High School in New Jersey, which was a point of pride throughout her life. Following in her parents’ footsteps, she later graduated from the College of Wooster where she fell in love with her husband, Bill, during a senior week romance. Cindy and Bill raised their family of four girls in Simsbury, Conn. where Cindy devoted her time to raising her kids, running the local swim program, volunteering at the First Church of Christ, and later working as a mental health counselor at the Farmington Valley Diagnostic Center in Avon, Conn. In later years, she and Bill permanently relocated to Kennebunkport, where they found a community of dear friends.
Cindy loved the summertime. As a child, she enjoyed summers on Cape Cod, and she attended Camp Merrowvista in Tuftonboro, N.H. She lived for playing tennis at the Kennebunk River Club and working on her tan at Goose Rocks Beach.
Cindy will be remembered for entertaining others with stories, encouraging mischief, and fiercely protecting her circle of friends and family. Her greatest joy in life was being a mom to her four daughters, and she passes on her competitive spirit, love for the outdoors, and propensity for singing loud with the music up.
She is survived by the love of her life, Bill; her four daughters, Jan (Tony), Betsy (Gus), Nancy, Susan (Ben); three grandchildren (two on the way); her sister, Barb (Rob), and her brother, Peter.
She was preceded in death by her parents Janet and Donald Leber; and her brother, David.
A memorial service will be held at South Congregational Church, 2 North St., Kennebunkport at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 29.
