Blanche Wantman Dietz

WESTON. Mass. – Blanche Wantman Dietz was born on Jan. 9, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY. Blanche passed away peacefully under the care of Hebrew Senior Life, in Weston Mass., on April 8, 2025. She was married to Victor Dietz until his passing in October 2023. Together, Blanche and Victor cherished activities like biking, traveling, and attending synagogue. Blanche and Vic enjoyed a long partnership that grew from a friendship when they met as campers at Camp Awanee/Twin Lake Camp in Vermont.

An avid reader and lifelong learner, Blanche studied piano and flute and enjoyed yoga. She was a strong, resilient woman who faced life’s challenges with tenacity and perseverance. Her strength was inspired by the determination of her mother, Rose Myron Wantman, who courageously raised her children on her own after the death of her husband, Jack, when Blanche was just five years old. Blanche often proudly reminisced about her mother’s dedication as a math teacher in New York City schools, where she educated generations of students, including recent Russian immigrants and future senators.

In 1968, Blanche moved to Boston to attend Boston University, where she earned a Master’s in Education and, years later, a Master’s in Social Work. She built a rewarding career as a family therapist and also gave back to the community by volunteering at the Healing Garden, where she led breast cancer survivor groups—a cause close to her heart, as she was a survivor herself.

Blanche’s face lit up when she spoke about her beloved grandchildren, Eliana, Eva, Hannah, and Lilah. Blanche was a devoted mother who was counted on by her children for caring advice. She is survived by her brother, Stuart Wantman; her children, Brian and Michelle, and her daughter-in-law, Randi.

The family wishes to thank Sarah Bourque for her guidance, care and advocacy throughout the illnesses of Blanche and Vic.

A funeral service will be held at Sharon Memorial Park, 120 Canton Street, Canton, MA at 10 am on Friday April 18.
