Generoso “Gene” Bay
GORHAM – Generoso “Gene” Bay, 77, of Gorham, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on April 3, 2025, at Northern Light Hospital after terminal illness of brain melanoma.
Gene was born and educated in the Philippines. He immigrated to the United States in 1980 after marrying Felicitas Atienza of Portland. After residing in Portland for two years, they relocated to Sunnyvale, Calif. where Gene worked for Hewlitt Packard for 37 years in facility maintenance. After retiring in 2019, Gene and his wife moved back to Maine to the town of Gorham.
Gene was predeceased by his parents Silvestre and Apolonia Bay, his sisters Marcelina Esquerra, Natalia Bay, and Letisia Bay Puras.
He is survived by his wife Felicitas of 47 years; son Kenneth John Bay and wife Katie; and his beloved grandsons Paxon and Dexter Bay whom he loved so dearly. His is also survived by his only brother Ricardo Bay and wife Erlinda, sister Juliana Davalos; and many neices and nephews.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to his melanoma oncologist, Dr. Tritter of Maine Health Cancer Care of South Portland, and to Maine Health hospital staff who cared for him during his multiple admissions and trips to the emergency room.
Thanks to Maine Home Care nurses: RN Seija, PT Jacqueline, and OT Pamela. Profound gratitude to Northern Light Hospice Staff: RN Polly, RN Addy, RN Barbara, and social worker Pam, who made it possible for Gene’s transition to happen smoothly, and for their humbling care to Gene and his family.
A special thanks to the nurses and CNA’s at Northern Light Hospital, especially to RN Jenn and RN Eve, who gave excellent care and attention to Gene during his last days.
A private family mass is scheduled at St. Anne Catholic Church in Gorham, Maine followed by burial at Brooklawn Memorial Park.
