I am so sorry, embarrassed and angry about what Donald Trump is doing to our world. As long as too many people go along with this insane man’s agenda, I think President Zelensky and Ukraine will be better off looking to Europe, NATO and the U.N. for support.
The U.S. had made progress recently. We were working (albeit slowly) toward dealing with climate change, our economy had bounced back after the pandemic, and we were spending big on infrastructure. I believe Zelensky knows not to believe a thing that Trump says. Even his “Truth Social” is a lie, not truth.
It’s embarrassing to see our longtime allies maligned and pushed aside to build the Orban-Putin-Trump kissy club. And how about the other mean zealots he has gathered for support? What could be worse for the U.S. than the current vice president, the current FBI director and the new secretary of defense? The fealty list is too long.
Meanwhile, we must step aside and watch them hack and slash at the foundations of our country. With every cut, though, they leave an inoculation from the pus and lies oozing from their pores. Someday we may wake up in time to save ourselves, but until then, I would not urge Zelensky to count on us. We are now a pathetic country and I am ashamed.
