Rosemarie Shorette Bate

BRADLEY – Rosemarie Shorette Bate, 85, of Bradley, Maine, passed away on Feb. 14, 2025 at HillHouse in Bath. Rosemarie was born on July 15, 1939 to Julia and Leon Shorette of Bradley.

She was trained as a registered nurse at Mercy School of Nursing in Portland, and expanded her knowledge and care for others throughout her career. Organizations she worked with include Eastern Maine Medical Center, Old Town Public Health, summers at the Regional Medical Center at Lubec, Camp CaPella and the American Red Cross. She rounded out a lifelong career of helping others as a mental health nurse and supervisor at Acadia Hospital in Bangor.

Rosemarie loved her time spent with family and friends and brought joy to any occasion with her smile and generous laugh. She raised four boys with her husband, Chris, played with and loved her four grandchildren, treasured time with her niece, Marie, and her family, and delighted in visits from her friend, Ann. She was always ready for a card game (or four!) with friends.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Christopher Bate; her son, Kevin Bate; and her sister, Dorothy Spaulding.

She is survived by three sons, Timothy Bate and his partner Will Sandstead, Mark Bate, and Jeremy Bate and his wife Lisa Mark; four grandchildren, Colby Bate, Kassidy Bate, Julia Bate and Parker Bate; and her niece, Marie Sekera.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 84 Main St., Bradley on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 10 a.m. Immediately following Mass, there will be a reception and continued fellowship in the Parish Hall.

Special appreciation goes out to the caregivers at HillHouse in Bath, and CHANS Hospice for the comfort and compassion they share every day.
