Other

Members of Deering Memorial United Methodist Church in South Paris have decided to relocate to a site better suited to their worship and ministry needs. The current building needs repairs at a cost of $200,000 to $300,000. Pastor Anna-Jean Alexander said they would rather focus on their active community ministry. Church leadership plans to meet with the Mid-Maine District Committee on Building and Location, which oversees United Methodist church properties, to discuss selling the church and finding a new building.

Sacred Heart/St. Dominic Parish in Portland has received an anonymous donation of $15,000 to benefit its capital campaign to fund repairs. The church, at the corner of Sherman and Mellen streets, has been designated a “Place in Peril” by Greater Portland Landmarks. To date, more than $187,000 has been raised of the $200,000 needed to finish repairs.
