Joanne Ruth Falcone
PORTLAND – Joanne Ruth Falcone, 93, was born to James and Mildred McFarlane in Portland on Apr. 13, 1931.
She passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at Fallbrook Commons (formerly known as St. Joseph’s) on Nov. 11, 2024.
Joanne was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Joseph Rocco Falcone; and daughter, Tina Marie.
She is survived by their four children, Michael, Janice, Daniel (wife Maureen), Joseph (wife Dagmar); and their grandchildren Gary, Joshua, Stefan, Katrina (husband Karl), and Jessica (husband Andrew). Joanne also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, extended family and many friends.
Joanne was a dedicated homemaker who raised two generations of children in her home. She also worked at Baxter School for the Deaf, and was a CNA for many years at St. Joseph’s Manor. She was fiercely loyal to her friends and family; she was the matriarch and the glue.
Joanne had many endearing nicknames, including but not limited to: “Mom” “Nana” “Joni” and “Mama” in her later years.
We will remember her for her “isms”: hoosy whatsy, tootsie woots, badeep badoop. Red wasn’t just red to her, it had to be “fire engine red”. We will think of her when we pull into our driveways and say to ourselves “home again home again jiggidy jig”.
Joanne has finally joined her husband in eternity, sitting on the front porch with a Sinatra cassette tape playing at the volume of a whisper.
The family would like to extend a huge thank you to the staff at St. Joseph’s/Fallbrook for their care and kindness to our mom during her time there, especially Dr. Marino and Molly as well as those present on the day of her passing. We will be forever grateful.
