What a sad and dangerous time for Maine and for America. Electing Trump again has reopened Pandora’s box of a world of hurt and hate. This a time for weeping and gnashing of teeth. I am deeply grieving.
I am grieving the hurt from this choice that will certainly include outrageously cruel actions toward new Mainers who have come to us simply seeking a better life. I am grieving the hurt that will include harming senior citizens by placing their Social Security and Medicare benefits in jeopardy. I am grieving the hurt that will include harm to children by destructive policies that will pull more struggling families below the poverty line.
And this is just the start. In the midst of our grief, let’s find the energy together to renew our commitment to work for greater justice and compassion for those being hurt by the collective choice made in this election.
Keep hope alive!
