In November 2023, Susan Collins, Angus King and Chellie Pingree announced the city of Freeport had been awarded a grant of $7.5 million and a loan of $7.5 million.

Key piece: This funding will allow for long-overdue replacements and upgrades to Freeport’s wastewater treatment plant and collection system.

Alarming: Phase 1 FSD is starting off with a new, rather large admin building with a separate entrance. The hope is that we can get down to paying for the replacements and upgrades first and foremost.

Garth Adams, Molly Lincoln and Tom Wright live in the neighborhood and are keen on seeing maximum results from this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. They are Harraseeket shore keepers. It’s been a couple of years now that I have had to eyeball the water at Sandy Beach before the kids’ swim. Does it have that bubbly film on it today? I’d never explain why. Gee, looks like a good day to kayak.
