Lucy Johnson scored three goals as Cheverus completed its fourth consecutive undefeated regular season with a 9-0 win over visiting Portland/Deering in a Class A South field hockey game Friday.

Sophia St. John added a pair of goals for Cheverus (14-0), the unanimous No. 1 team in the Varsity Maine top 10. Zoey Radford, Sydney Brunelle, Jordan Drouin and Mary McCartney all scored.

Emma Walsh had 18 saves for Portland/Deering (1-13).

GORHAM 1, WINDHAM 0: Sydney Quimby finished off a pass from Reece Leclerc for the game’s only goal midway through the second quarter as the Rams (9-4) defeated the Eagles (8-5) at Windham.
Madison Tibbals stopped all four shots faced for Gorham. Windham’s Olivia McPherson made nine saves.

SOUTH PORTLAND/WESTBROOK 1, KENNEBUNK 0: Lucy Wetzel scored midway through the third quarter, and the Red Riots (6-7-1) shut out the Rams (4-10) at South Portland.

HALL-DALE/MONMOUTH 4, BOOTHBAY 1: Hannah Rauch netted three goals as the Bulldogs (10-3) beat the Seahawks (4-7) in Boothbay Harbor.

Mira Skehan also scored for Hall-Dale, and Torie Tibbetts, Faith McDougal and Marinn Perry had assists. Bulldogs goalie Jade Graham made six saves.

Bailey Lewis scored for Boothbay.

BIDDEFORD 7, THORNTON ACADEMY 1: Hannah Loranger tallied two goals and three assists to lead the Tigers (12-2) over the Trojans (6-4-1) in Biddeford.

Ayla Lagasse added a goal and two assists, Mia Mariello had a goal and an assist, and Corinne Ramunno, Emily Hussey and Kayla Magnant also scored for Biddeford.

Shyla McVeigh scored and Allison Marines made 19 saves for Thornton.

BRUNSWICK 1, EDWARD LITTLE 0: Ava Wolverton’s goal in the second quarter held up for the Dragons (3-8-2) against the Red Eddies (4-8-1) in Brunswick.

Ella Duchette made three saves for Brunswick, while Edward Little’s Sophia Gerry stopped four shots.

FOOTBALL

CAPE ELIZABETH 22, BRUNSWICK 12: Brady Inman scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 5-yard run late in the third quarter, and the Capers (4-3) went on to defeat the Dragons (2-5) at Brunswick.

Inman’s run and point-after kick gave Cape Elizabeth a 14-12 lead with 1:17 left in the third. Eli Halter added a 3-yard scoring run with 6:06 remaining in the game.

Brunswick led 6-0 on Jimmy Cook’s 3-yard run in the second quarter, then 12-7 on Liam Scholl’s 32-yard run with 7:31 to play in the third.
Danny Gray scored for the Capers from 5 in the final minute of the first half.

DEERING 42, GORHAM 6: Tavian Lauture had two touchdown runs and passed for another TD, Joey Foley rushed for over 170 yards and two touchdowns, and Deering (6-1) rolled past visiting Gorham (2-5) at Memorial Field.

Lauture had two long runs on the Rams’ opening drive, culminating in a 29-yard TD run after a 42-yard gain earlier. In the second quarter, Lauture added a 1-yard touchdown run that was set up by his 29-yard pass to Elijah Stewart. Later, Lauture threw a 10-yard TD pass to a wide-open Zade Smith.

Foley scored from the 4 in the first quarter for a 13-6 lead. After gaining over 50 yards on the opening drive of the third quarter, his 9-yard rush made it 41-6.

Zade Newhall added a 3-yard TD run for Deering, which recovered a fumble and an onside kick.

Quarterback Garrett Poulin connected with Jack Karlonas on a 49-yard scoring pass in the first quarter for Gorham.

WESTBROOK 21, BIDDEFORD 18: Giovanni Staples had a 5-yard scoring run in the first quarter and connected with Camillo Jones for a 54-yard catch and run in the second as the Blue Blazes (1-6) recorded their first win of the season, outlasting the Tigers (2-5) in a turnover-filled game at Westbrook.

Cole Tanner added a 10-yard rushing touchdown for Westbrook as it built a 21-6 halftime lead.

Landon Sirois caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Travis Edgerton, Riley Lawless scored on a short run, and Domenick Smith had a 41-yard interception return for Biddeford, which missed all of its conversion attempts.

LEWISTON 34, WINDHAM 29: Jeffrey Randall connected with Lonnie Thomas for a 13-yard touchdown pass with 44.2 seconds remaining, lifting the Blue Devils (3-3) over the Eagles (2-5) in Windham.

It was the third TD catch of the game for Thomas, who got behind Windham’s defense for a 51-yard reception that gave Lewiston a 28-15 lead in the third quarter.

Windham answered with a 2-yard run by quarterback Karl Longstreth late in the third, then went ahead 29-28 on Parker Sperry’s third touchdown run of the game, from the 7, with 6:29 left.

Randall opened the scoring with a 1-yard run in the first quarter. The Blue Devils also got a 2-yard TD run from Khylan Young in the second quarter en route to a 22-15 halftime lead.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 44, WATERVILLE 22: Brady Plante threw five long touchdown passes and ran for a score in his return from a one-game injury absence, leading the Seagulls (7-0) past the Purple Panthers (0-7) at Old Orchard Beach.

Riley Provencher and Trot Moody each caught two TD strikes, and Daniel Cashman also had a touchdown catch. Provencher’s scores were from 62 and 47 yards, while Moody reached the end zone on 75- and 47-yard plays.

Waterville’s Donovan Porter rushed for three touchdowns – two in the fourth quarter.

BOYS’ SOCCER

PORTLAND 5, NOBLE 0: Isaac Rodrigues-Nkanza notched a pair of goals for the Bulldogs (10-2-1) as they handled the Knights (2-8-2) at Fitzpatrick Stadium.

Felisberto Manuisi and Ronan Mas each converted penalty kicks and Paulo Joao also scored.

Hunter Michaud made 11 saves for Noble.

KENNEBUNK 2, THORNTON ACADEMY 1: Grahame Bean scored from Ben Urban with 17 seconds left in overtime as the Rams (8-4-1) got past the Trojans (3-9-1) in Kennebunk.

Thornton’s Precieux Mbolela opened the scoring 22 seconds into the second half from Gabriel Souza. Levi Christopher tied it with 11:47 left in regulation.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

LAKE REGION 1, LEAVITT 0: Marissa Harlow scored, Jordan Blanton made six saves, and the Lakers (4-7-2) defeated the Hornets (4-8-1) in Naples.

Haley Welch made 13 saves for Leavitt.
