SCARBOROUGH – Angela (Chamberland) Houghton, 92, passed away peacefully on Sept. 20, 2024, at Scarborough Terrace with family by her side. She was born in St. Agatha, Maine, Feb. 2, 1932, the daughter of Joseph and Annie (Albert) Chamberland.
Angela loved children and spent many years teaching grade school; years later after retirement you would find her substituting in classrooms. So many thank you notes have been sent to Mrs. Houghton over the years.
Angela loved to plan, whether it was her infamous dinner parties, lunch at DiMillo’s, to activities at the Betsy Ross House, she rarely stopped. If you knew Angela, you likely have received a thoughtfully written card or letter from her as she always kept you in her thoughts and prayers.
Angela is survived by her stepdaughter, Elizabeth Abbott (Stephen), stepson, Timothy M. Houghton, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John A. Houghton, Jr.; parents, Joseph and Annie Chamberland; siblings, Rella (Leon) Ouellette, Valere (Jeanne) Chamberland, Allyre (Lorraine) Chamberland, Gerald (Nellie) Chamberland, Jerome (Doris) Chamberland, Clifford (Lucille) Chamberland and Sr. Doria Chamberland.
The family would like to thank the staff of Scarborough Terrace for their loving care. Angela will be buried next to her husband, John in the family lot in St, Joseph’s Cemetery, Bedford NH.
Respecting her wishes, no formal service will be held. Angela’s considerate nature was reflected in arranging masses in others’ names; please consider doing the same in her honor.
