Karen Ullmann

KENNBUNKPORT – Karen Ullmann, 73, passed away in the arms of her loving husband Saturday morning, Sept. 14, 2024.

Born Jan. 26, 1951 in Morristown, N.J., she began her journey, attending schools in northern New Jersey while discovering her passions. She loved to travel and see new places, despite lifelong health issues. After employment in a variety of occupations, she found her niche working in the growing field of IT as a project manager for Unisys Corp. This position allowed her to travel to sites nationwide. Later, she started her own consulting firm operating from her home in Maine, until her parents’ failing health led her to manage their health care.

She was a sensitive and kindly person, impressing all who met her with her caring and compassion. Karen was a strong proponent of women’s rights and equality among all people. She was especially attentive to Native American rights, being part Cherokee. She loved cats, music, laughter, travel, and her family. All who met her appreciated her honesty and her respect for every person. Her smile was always heartfelt.

A lover of nature, Karen enjoyed viewing and photographing the abundant wildlife visiting her home, which abuts Rachel Carson conservation land and the animals that inhabit the forest.

Karen leaves her brother Carl and sister-in-law Enid of Bethlehem, Pa., her sister-in-law Susan Lenczyk of West Orange, N.J., and her devoted husband of 36 years, Andrew Lenczyk in Kennebunkport.

A private celebration of life will be held by her surviving family.
