Floris H. Smith

HOLLIS – Floris H. Smith, 94, also lovingly known as “Flo”, “Pop”, “Gert” or “Scarlet”, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024, at Mercy Hospital.

She was born in Buxton on Feb. 5, 1930, youngest of 12 children of the late William Sr. and Betsy (Bradeen) McLeese and graduated from Buxton High School in 1947.

She taught school for eight years in Hollis and Buxton, was a substitute teacher for many years, and spent her last 20 working years at Plummer’s Supermarket making many connections and friendships.

Floris enjoyed being on her computer, playing poker, and being with her dear family.

She was predeceased by all of her siblings.

Floris is survived by her four children, Raymond Smith of Shapleigh, Clyde Smith of Waterboro, Toni Brown of Monson, and Pamela Smith of Jackman; grandchildren, Demi, Jade, Lindsey, Christy, and Clyde; and six great-grandchildren.

As Floris would say…. “Life is what you make of it!”

Services will be private amongst her family.
