David Vail’s opinion piece of July 16 names climate change for what it is: a crisis. It is not an exaggeration to say that if Trump wins in November, it is game over in the fight against climate change. The Republican platform prioritizes profits for the fossil fuel industry over a habitable planet, and Big Oil is banking on a Trump win.
Meanwhile, President Biden’s infrastructure initiatives are steering us in the right direction by creating jobs and fostering innovation in renewable energy. We must maintain that path if we’re to have any hope for a livable future. It’s not just our children and grandchildren who will be impacted; the climate crisis is already here, and we are all suffering through its impacts.
As a voter, I’m prioritizing action on climate change and ending our reliance on dirty fossil fuels by supporting the only presidential candidate who takes this issue seriously: Joe Biden. I hope others do, too.
