Edward Mariner Bishop
MAKAKILO, Hawaii – Edward “Bishie” Bishop, 79, of Makakilo, Hawaii, a retired computer scientist with the U.S. Dept. of Defense passed away peacefully at home on May 10, 2024.
He was born and raised in Eastport, and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Monmouth County as well as Patrol River Boats (PBR).
He is survived by his wife, LaVerne (Manzano Maples); daughter, Michelle Green (Barry), son, Marko; grandsons Mikey and Cody; sisters Carol Melanson, Mary Hurteau (Gene), brothers Raye and John (Peggy). “Papa Ed” was also beloved by stepchildren Marissa Schroeder (Kirk), Brook Priest (Jarl), and Donovan Maples (Devina), and their children.
He served in the DOD for decades in Japan, but loved Hawaii where he had always planned to retire, finishing his career on Oahu.
Services will be held on July 18 at Mililani Memorial Park, Makai Chapel. Visitation 9:30 a.m., services 10:30 a.m. and burial 1 p.m.
