I recently gave a contribution to Rep. Jared Golden’s campaign, as I have done for each and every one of his campaigns. Earlier this week, I called his campaign and asked them to return my contribution – something I have never done before, and I have been involved in Maine politics for over 50 years. I commend the campaign for responding to my request.
The reason I asked for my money was his comment that Trump’s election was OK with him. I did not mind that he said he thought Trump would win, nor would I complain if he said he wanted Joe Biden to step down. My problem is that anyone who thinks it’s OK for a president to try, illegally, to overturn an election and disrupt the orderly transition of power, and who believes that this Congress is capable of stopping Trump’s future actions as president, is seriously lacking the judgment necessary to represent Maine.
