Kate Lemos McHale was named executive director of Greater Portland Landmarks. For the past seven years, she was the director of research of the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.
Recognition

Verrill attorney Jim Cohen was given the Volunteer of the Year Award by the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce. He is a former mayor of Portland, in office in 2005 and 2006, and has been the board chair of the Portland Regional Chamber and board president of the Portland Community Chamber.

Avesta Housing opened an affordable housing complex, the Village Commons, for ages 55-plus at 246 Route 1 in Scarborough, part of the Firehouse Village.
Bubble Bliss, a tapioca bubble tea shop, opened at 23 Temple St. in Portland.
