Sarah Harthorne
PORTLAND – Sarah Harthorne, 93, passed away on June 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Sarah was born on Nov. 17, 1930, in Portland, the daughter of the late Gilbert and Mary McLinden. She grew up in Portland, where she later married Lee Harthorne Sr. in 1957. Together, they raised their two children on Veranda Street in Portland and at Highland Lake in Falmouth.
A dedicated stay-at-home mom, Sarah cherished her time with her family. She had a fondness for soap operas, and enjoyed her daily “yummy chocolate drink,” Werther’s, and Red Rose tea. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and was a devoted parishioner of St. Pius X Church.
Sarah was predeceased by her husband, Lee Harthorne Sr.; her daughter, Mary; and her sisters, Theresa Reagan, Florence Queen, Mary Heidenthal, and Lorraine Miller. She is survived by her son, Lee Harthorne Jr. and his wife Jacqueline of Scarborough, her daughter, Lori Jones and her husband Chris of Hartland; and her three beloved grandchildren, Angelina, Kali, and Landin Harthorne. Sarah is also survived by her sisters, Ruth Bronn of Portland and Barbara Howard of Falmouth; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Sarah’s family would like to extend their gratitude to 75 State Street and the 3rd Floor at Maine Medical Center.
