Alice L. Stone

STANDISH – Alice L. Stone, 82, of Standish, passed away on the evening of Oct. 18, 2023 from end stage Alzheimer’s disease.

Alice was born on July 7, 1941 in Manchester, N.H., and moved to Bridgton as a teenager. She graduated from Lake Region Academy in 1959, and moved to Portland to begin work through the YWCA on Spring Street. She became lifelong friends with her roommate at the Y, “Lil.”

Through mutual friends of Alice and Lil, Alice met her husband, Douglas Stone, and they married on April 25, 1964. Alice and Doug would have celebrated 60 years of marriage next year, and anniversary parties were cherished by both.

Alice is survived by her husband; two daughters, Debra and Tracy, her son-in-law, Chris; her grandson, Keith, and his wife, Kerianne and their son, Jackson, Alice’s great-grandson.

Visiting hours and a memorial service will be held at Dolby, Blais, and Segee Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham, on Wednesday, Oct. 25 starting at 3 p.m. with the memorial service beginning at 4 p.m.
