Estelle F. Stirk

SCARBOROUGH – Estelle F. Stirk, 95, died peacefully on Oct. 7, 2023, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, with her children by her side.

She was born in South Portland on July 15, 1928, a daughter of Leo and Florence (Stevens) Sampson. Estelle was educated in South Portland schools and after graduation from South Portland High School, she went to work at the telephone company until her children were born. Estelle worked in retail throughout her life and retired from Sears at the age of 73.

She married Norman Stirk in 1968, until his passing in 2013. She was also predeceased by her parents; two brothers and a sister; her daughter, Gail Bonville and son, Paul Bonville.

Estelle is survived by her sister, Shirley Giftos; children, Sharon Bonville, and Jere Bonville; granddaughter, Victoria Bonville Varela, her husband Porfiro Varela; and her great-grandchildren, Oliver, Isabella and Olivia Estella Varela; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Katrina Melvin and David Meserve for huge amounts of assistance with keeping Estelle in her home of 70 years. Also, assisting greatly over the past year were Jay, Julie and her playmate, Annette, from Hospice. The family cannot thank you enough.
