David Mingins Weyand

BIDDEFORD – David Weyand died peacefully at Gosnell House in Scarborough on Sept. 19, having battled long and valiantly with heart disease.

David was born on Jan. 29, 1953, in Beaver, Pa. and was the youngest of four children. After working in the automotive industry for several years, David transitioned to boats, working at Rummery’s Boat Yard in Biddeford, retiring in 2022.

After marrying his life-long partner, Chantal Bourdon in 1989, he lived in both Montreal and Fortunes Rocks, during which time their child Laurence was born. He later built a house on Orin Lane in Biddeford, where he lived for the rest of his life. David was a very kind and creative person who made friends easily and was able to fix or build anything.

He is survived by his partner Chantal Bourdon, and their child Laurence Weyand; his siblings James Weyand of Portland, Ore., Bart (Tricia) Weyand of Kennebunk, Susan (Tom) Hamilton of Fortunes Rocks; and loving nieces and nephews.

The whole family would like to thank all of the staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospital for all the kind support and help in making David’s passing peaceful and comfortable.

A celebration of life will be held at his house on Orin Lane for his annual Memorial Day party on May 25, 2024. Drop-in after 1 p.m.
